A few seasons ago we were backstage with MAC at Marni in Milano. The key makeup artist Tom Pecheux, a genius when it comes to sophisticated, Parisian glamour created this dark lip look, on request by then Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni.

We found it in the archives, but it’s still relevant because there is hardly a fall season without a dark lip trend! It changes up every year, but the secret is not always in the shade or texture – it’s the way it’s combined. Pairing a dark prune lip with pale and matte skin would have given a different vibe than the fresh glowy texture seen at Marni. Fresh, young and sophisticated are the words to be applied to this look.

Tip

Keep the skin flawless by finishing the foundation off with a swipe of powder on the nose and forehead, but go for a highlighter on the cheekbones and eyelids for a fresh look. Preferably the same shade on all three.
