Vanessa Spence – ASOS Womenswear Design Director

Vanessa Spence joined ASOS in 2007 after starting her design career 17 years ago. 
Starting out with a team of just two, she now has a team of 65!
Spence became Womenswear Design Director in 2015 and in her current role she oversees the design of all womenswear products.

A typical day at ASOS?
Every day is different, which makes it really exciting, that’s one of the best parts of the job

What’s your tip for a perfect Christmas outfit?
The 80’s style revival has come at the perfect time for the Christmas party wear season!  Accessories such as statement earrings or a pointy court shoe is an easy way to access the trend or add a cropped jacket with shoulder pads for full 80’s glamour!

What is on top of your wish list this year?
A vintage t-shirt – wear now with vinyl trousers and super-sized earrings and come spring you can layer it with ditzy floral dresses, perfect for festival season.

What is your everyday uniform?
A dress over jeans with a pair of sneakers. ASOS do a great ‘drouser’ which are specially made for layering over trousers! I’m really into mixing prints at the moment too.

Three words that describe your style?
Playful, bold and original.
